By experimenting with traditional crafting techniques I find my own way of using them in a different, more modern manner. I use embroidery to make new textiles, for example out of burlap. I also use it to fix torn or worn garments. This way I emphasize the imperfections and show them as something beautiful instead of a flaw.
The slowness of the process of stitching something by hand is meditative. Designs grow organically and this shows in the final product. I want to keep learning new (old) techniques and exploring different materials.
