If you own a cat, chances are you’re going to find a dead mouse someday. I found my first dead mouse when I was about five years old. I was playing in our backyard when I saw half a mouse laying on the ground. I was fascinated by all the pink and red stuff sticking out of it where the other half used to be. After studying it extensively I covered it with a plastic sieve from our sandpit and went inside to get my dad. We gave the mouse a proper burial, as we did with all the dead mice we found after this first one.
Though I’ve found a lot of dead mice, birds and frogs in my years being a cat owner, the memory of finding the first one really stuck with me. And now I share this memory through my less gross and mouse friendly half a mouse cat toys.
